Proposal to supplement the data protection declaration
for the use of the video chat tool

(usage without guarantee)

Data acquisition for implementation of video conferences

Jitsi Meet/Web RTC

The open source software Jitsi Meet is used for transmission of video and audio signals during video conference. On basis of WebRTC, data or media streams are transmitted in encrypted form via Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) and Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP). However, WebRTC does not yet offer option of encrypting video conferences with several people end-to-end. This means: video conference is encrypted on transport route or in network, but on video conference server that hosts Jitsi Meet, all data traffic is decrypted and can therefore be viewed by operator. We do not save or log any information about you or content of video conference. We are acting in accordance with Art. 5 GDPR (data minimization).

Text-based chat in video conference (log files)

In log files of Jitsi Meet, which acts as a video bridge, personal data can be saved. In this case, this could affect your IP address that you received from your provider. We use “Warning” logging standard. As a result, your IP address will not be saved. We are acting in accordance with Art. 5 GDPR (data minimization).

Own STUN / TURN server

STUN protocol detects clients that are, for example, behind a router or a firewall and have a NAT address. With help of STUN server, NAT clients can find out their public IP address and are then able to establish a direct communication link between (two) participants. Our Jitsi instance uses a STUN / TURN server operated by us. With this organizational and technical measure, we act in accordance with Art. 5 GDPR ("Integrity and Confidentiality").

Recording of data on this website via video chat contact form

If you send us inquiries via Video Chat contact form, your data from inquiry form including contact data you entered there will be stored for purpose of processing inquiry and in case of follow-up questions with video chat provider (123.chat) and with us. This data will not be passed on without your consent.

This data is processed on basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO if your request is related to fulfilment of a contract or is necessary for implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in effective processing of inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO) or on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO), provided that inquiry was made.

Data you enter in contact form will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to its storage or purpose for which it was stored ceases to apply (e.g. after your inquiry has been processed). Mandatory legal provisions - in particular retention periods - remain unaffected.
